COUNTY'S TRANSPORTATION PLAN SEEKS STATE FUNDS

The Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders is finalizing projects for inclusion in the County's Annual Transportation Program in order to receive $1,478,000.00 in State funds. Projects can range from public roads and bridges under County jurisdiction, public transportation or other transportation related work.

Freeholder Director Jack Kugler said, "These State funds will help maintain and enhance the County's transportation system while not burdening local taxpayers."

Road and Bridges Committee Chairman Freeholder Bruce Bobbitt said that the County Engineering Department will prepare a prioritized project list and with minimal "tweaking" by the State, fully expects the almost $1.5 Million dollars to arrive in time to set in motion important road and bridge projects.

The State funds are part of the FY2004 County Aid Program from the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund.
