Salem County Railroad Full Steam Ahead

(Salem City)- Assemblyman John J. Burzichelli along with Senator Stephen M. Sweeney and Assemblyman Douglas H. Fisher will announce state aid funded by the New Jersey Department of Transportation to help finance vital projects to keep Salem County Rail Line up and running.

The 3rd District team will be joined by DOT Commissioner Jack Lettiere; Thomas Collard, Vice President of the Southern Railroad Company of New Jersey; Salem County Freeholder Director, John Kugler, as well as others that were instrumental in obtaining this money.

The money being released is the first installment towards the rehabilitation and restoration of the deteriorating rail line, which is currently used by seven companies in the Salem County area.

The announcement will be made at the Charles J. Pedersen Memorial Park on Market Street in Salem City at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2003.
