Pittsgrove's Olivet Intersection Reconstruction Beginning This Spring

Freeholder Bruce L. Bobbitt, Chairman of the Road and Bridge Committee announces that the reconstruction of the Olivet Intersection in Pittsgrove Township will begin this Spring. The Contractor, "South State, Inc." from Bridgeton, New Jersey will be realigning Sheep Pen Road and Buck Road, County Road #553, to a traffic signal controlled intersection with Centerton Road, County Road #610.

The project is scheduled to begin March 17, 2003 and be completed by July 3, 2003. The cost of the Project is $563,000.00 which is being funded by New Jersey Department of Transportation funds and Salem County funds.

The work will include the reconstruction of the intersection along with the installation of a full phase traffic signal. Access through the intersection will be maintained during construction.

The project will move the roads and intersection away from the Olivet Elementary School, improving the safety of the area. The Pittsgrove School Administrative Staff has cooperated with the County to schedule school buses in the safest manner during construction. Drivers in the area are encouraged to use alternate routes in the Township or anticipate delays. As always, drivers need to use caution and observe traffic safety warnings.
