Famous Local Person: Thomas Whitaker Trenchard (1863-1942) of Bridgeton, N.J.; Born in Centreton, N.J., December 13, 1863. Member of New Jersey state house of assembly, 1889; Presidential Elector from New Jersey, 1896; county judge, 1899-1906; associate justice of New Jersey state supreme court, 1906-1941. In 1935, sentenced Bruno Richard Hauptmann to death for the kidnapping and murder of the infant son of Charles A. Lindbergh. Died in Trenton, N.J., July 23, 1942.
